North Brewing Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship

With the consultation of our friend Ren Navarro, founder of Beer Diversity, we are excited to announce the launch of the annual North Brewing Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 SCHOLARSHIP.

At North Brewing, we recognize the need for better representation, diversity and inclusion within the craft beer and restaurant communities. We recognize that there are deep-seated systems and practices within our industry that result in a lack of representation and opportunity for so many people.

This annual scholarship will be awarded to a local candidate who is entering any of the following programs at a University or College within the HRM (Halifax Regional Municipality): hospitality, sciences, engineering, design, fabrication/trades, business/entrepreneurship, art/design and any other field that is (or could be!) related to the brewing industry. The scholarship will be comprised of two parts: $1500 awarded to the successful candidate for each year of school attended in the program they are entering upon receipt of the scholarship (up to 4 years of schooling), plus summer employment for the duration of their education, if the applicant wishes to pursue this opportunity.

Our goal is to provide work opportunities and funding for education to individuals who are underrepresented in our industry, with the goal of working towards making the craft beer and restaurant industries more welcoming and equitable.

Individuals interested in this scholarship can find all of the necessary application criteria in the link below. Applications are open now, and will remain open until July 15th, 2026. Interviews will take place in Late July/early August 2026. We will be awarding the scholarship in September 2026 for the Fall 2026 term. Ren Navarro, as well as members of the Change Is Brewing Collective will join us on the scholarship selection committee. We will announce yearly when we are open for applications and when they will be closed for the year. Good luck to all of the applicants, we look forward to hearing from you!
